First day of the summer holidays

Finally our summer holidays started yesterday. It's always an intense time before the end of the school year with lots of tests and everybody getting more and more exhausted but this year it was even more so because we had had two family losses within a week at the end of June. It was a sad and emotional time and it used up a lot of my dwindling energy.

But I don't want to write about sad things right now because the holidays started and because the next five weeks are stretching temptingly in front of us.

I wanted to enjoy the first day of our holidays together with both Yannick and Antonia. It's not always easy to find something that all three of us like but fortunately Yannick had the best if at first slightly surprising idea on how to spend a few hours together. He wanted to go for a hike in the woods.

Unexpected for sure but less so when you know that he is quite addicted to the new Pokemon Go and has been outside non stop these last few days. He wanted to go to the forest because he was hoping to catch rare pokemons ;-). I am no fan of the game, especially because I don't really get why you have to run after little images of cute monsters, but I love walking and the forest so off we went.

We only stayed in the forest for about two hours but it was just lovely. We drove to the top of the Üetliberg, went up to the top of the tower amongst all the tourists from all over the world. Then we walked down through the wonderfully green trees and had a lunch break in the middle of it. Yannick and Antonia had fun finding their pokemons but it didn't keep them from interacting with each other or with me, we actually talked all the time. What a lovely start...

In a couple of hours I am off to Bergen in Norway with Antonia. I am very much looking forward to discovering a new country and to just spend time with my girl.
